What To Expect During Your First Visit
If you are facing an unexpected or unplanned pregnancy (or potential pregnancy), we are here to help. We understand the emotions, fears, and questions you may have. We want to help put your mind at ease by sharing with you what to expect on your first visit to the Pregnancy Resource Center of West Plains.
At the PRC, you will be met with a calm and professional environment. You won’t be charged for any service you receive, including a pregnancy test or ultrasound, and your information will be kept completely confidential.
All our services are 100% free and confidential.
You’ll start the appointment by filling out an intake form similar to what you might find at a doctor's office. This will only take a couple minutes and helps us to better understand how we can serve you.
After you have finished filling out the intake form, we’ll administer a pregnancy test. You will be shown to a private bathroom and given instructions on how to gather a urine sample. Then, our staff will run the test and after a couple minutes we will share the results with you.
Please note: our tests are clinical grade and highly accurate but are not early-detection pregnancy tests.
After the pregnancy test, one of our compassionate staff members or nurses will introduce themselves and share the results of the test. We will give you time and space to process your feelings and ask any questions you may have.
Our staff can provide medically accurate information about pregnancy, fetal development, parenting, adoption, and abortion. We will also tell you about the resources available to you at our center and in the community.
The best way to medically confirm your pregnancy is with an ultrasound. You can schedule an ultrasound with us. An ultrasound helps determine gestational age, location of pregnancy (in the uterus versus ectopic) and fetal heartbeat. This information is important to know before you make a decision about your pregnancy. A pregnancy outside of the uterus can be a life-threatening medical emergency.
Ultrasounds through our PRC are completely free and confidential. After the ultrasound, we will once again give you space to process your thoughts and ask questions. We want you to know that you’re not alone. We’re here offering love and support as you navigate your pregnancy.
